Curriculum Vitae

Yuanhua Xie is Professor of Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition, Ph.D. supervisor, postdoctoral collaborative supervisor, peer reviewer of National Social Science Fund of China, appraisal expert of National Social Science Project Achievements, and reviewer of Ph.D. and M.A. dissertations at the Center of Graduate Degree in Ministry of Education. She was once Vice-dean of International Commerce College and Director of the graduate office in Faculty of English Language and Culture. She completed her B.A. at Hubei Normal University; M.A. at Wuhan University, and Ph.D. at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. She has supervised over 60 M.A. and Ph.D. dissertations at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Leeds University.

Her recent interests in research are task design and learning mechanisms in Task Based Language Teaching. She has published over 30 research articles in CSSCI, SSCI journals, such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Modern Foreign Languages, Foreign Languages in China,Foreign Language Education and others. Also, she is an anonymous reviewer of professional refereed journals like Modern Foreign Languages, Chinese Journal of Applied Linguistics (English), System, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (IRAL), etc.

Her research and publications mainly address the acquisition of English raising verbs; the roles of teachers, cognitive demands of tasks, cognitive abilities (creativity, aptitude) and other individual differences in L2 learners’ performance and learning in the framework of Task-based Language Teaching; task complexity and task sequencing in language performance and development.
