Professor Wang Dongfeng
Professor Wang Dongfeng is a leading scholar in the field of Translation Studies. He currently serves as Chief Expert of Yunshan Research Studio at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. He is also Chairman of the Translators Association of Guangdong Province, a Standing Council Member of the Translators Association of China (TAC), Deputy Director of TAC’s Translation Theory and Translation Teaching Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Translation and Culture Studies Association (TCSA). Formerly Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Wang continues to serve as Director of the university’s Institute of Translation Studies. He has been honored with a government special allowance, a prestigious award granted by the State Council.
Professor Wang’s research expertise encompasses a wide range of fields, including translation studies, linguistics, and comparative literature. His publications include more than 20 scholarly books and over 100 research papers in leading academic journals. He has served as Principal Investigator of a Major Research Project of Philosophy and Social Sciences of China’s Ministry of Education and has led two projects supported by the National Social Science Foundation of China.
His scholarly contributions have earned him multiple awards, including three provincial Distinguished Social Science Research Awards, among which he received two second prizes and one third prize. He has also received the “Special Mention” of the Stephen C. Soong Translation Studies Memorial Awards on two occasions from the Research Center for Translation at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Alongside his academic career, Professor Wang is a highly accomplished translator and was awarded the title of “Senior Translator” by the TAC in 2024.
