Overview

The Faculty of English Language and Culture has a distinguished history of graduate education dating back to the late 1970s. We were among the first institutions in China to be granted the right to award master’s degrees in 1981, following the reinstatement of the national College Entrance Examination. In 1986, we obtained the authority to award doctoral degrees, positioning us among the early institutions to offer doctoral programs after the restoration of the graduate education system in China.

Academic Programs

We currently offer:

International Collaboration

We have established two Ministry of Education-approved joint Master’s programs:

- GDUFS-University of Leeds MA TESOL Program

- GDUFS-University of Reading MA ELT Program

Administrative Structure

The Graduate Studies Office, established in the early 1980s, is responsible for the unified management of graduate teaching in the Faculty. Over the years, we have developed a rigorous and mature graduate education system and administrative framework, and have accumulated rich experience in cultivating high-level research talent.
